In every design task, there are several possible solutions (thesis). To evaluate every available option (antithesis), and to resolve with the most valuable solution (synthesis), is our goal.

Our Design Philosophy

At Di Fede Design Group, our design philosophy emphasizes client collaboration throughout the architectural design process. We believe in empowering our clients to actively participate in creating their dream, while making recommendations concerning aesthetics, structure, life, and safety. Although I do not force my opinion on the client, we will strongly support and substantiate any opinion we may have. As it is our responsibility that the adopted solution will satisfy the needs, and at the same time create a beautiful building within the budget constraint.

We provide expert recommendations on aesthetics, structural integrity, sustainability, and safety, ensuring that every aspect aligns with your vision. While we share our insights, we respect your preferences and prioritize your needs, ensuring that the final solution not only meets your requirements but also reflects the beauty of the natural landscape—all within your budget.

Our team values open communication and is dedicated to listening to your ideas and suggestions. With a strong foundation in good design principles, rooted in our heritage, we strive to build lasting relationships with our clients. The majority of our projects come from client referrals, a testament to our commitment to exceptional service.

About

Born and raised in Italy, I was surrounded by breathtaking natural landscapes and timeless architecture, which inspired my passion for design from a young age. My heritage instilled in me a deep appreciation for "good design," shaping my approach as an architect.

I studied at the University of Architecture in Palermo, Italy, where I completed three years of a five-year program. In 1978, I moved to California after marrying my wife, a St. Helena native. I later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, one of the premier architectural schools in the country, in 1987.

My professional journey began in various architectural firms, where I honed my design skills and developed a keen sensitivity to client needs. In 1993, I founded my own firm, specializing in custom architecture in Napa Valley.

My design philosophy centers on client collaboration, allowing you to actively engage in the design process. I offer expert recommendations on aesthetics, structure, sustainability, and safety, always prioritizing your vision and requirements. While I share my insights, I ensure that your preferences guide the final outcome, creating beautiful buildings that align with your budget.

This client-centered approach has fostered strong relationships with my clients, resulting in numerous referrals. My team consists of licensed architects dedicated to providing the highest level of professional service, ensuring that your custom home design reflects your unique style and meets all your needs.

Let’s work together to create a stunning, bespoke building that captures the essence of your vision.
